A wander through the week...

The tulips came up in odd places this spring - and had to grow long and lanky to get out from under the cedar bush - it's since been replaced since as you can see here it was suffering.  But i couldn't believe how tall the tulips got - i thought i was going to have to stake them up!
Last week was an exciting week - the maple tree was still budding and there were lots of interesting birds flying around the neighbourhood - this was an indigo bunting as far as i could tell from the bird guide that i "borrowed" from mom and dad... neato - i had never seen one of those around!
This was a thrush - as far as i could tell - a fat sorta fellow about the size of a robin - reminds me of The Hobbit - i believe Bilbo is trying to find his way into the Mountain where Smaug's lair is - and the thrush knocks on the rock to show him the way in...so here's to J.R.R. Tolkien...
This little fellow hidden in the branches is a black-throated blue warbler... neat!
And yes, it's spring - time to get the hands down and dirty - this particular episode was after a morning/afternoon of spreading the manure in the garden at mom and dad's - a whole load of good nutrient filled stuff to enrich our poor gardens!
My tulips did this after i put them on a vase - i had retrimmed the bottom and i'm not sure if that's why it decided to assume this unusual form - but whatever the reason, it was neat to see!
It was "Art Crawl" the second Friday of May - and while there was plenty of rain and moisture, there were also plenty of artists displaying their various talents and abilities to the public, of whom there were a lot.  This particular piece was a mask - and the artists took the mask to various places and had taken pictures of people wearing the mask while picking out library books, playing on children's play equipment and various other poses.. kinda funny but creepy too!
And finally, not least but definitely last, my weeping redbud has come into it's own this spring - the first time i get to see it in it's glory - and it is proving to be a beauty!

Maybe the water was too cold for your tulips? My toes curl up too when the water is cold ;)

It's a good suggestion, Laur... i like it... i've not had it happen again but maybe i'll try warmer water next time and see what happens...

That indigo bunting is so pretty! I've never seen a bird like that before - wow! The warbler is pretty, too!
