Do you know...

At the end of a crazy shift... coming up to 6:45 pm and my brain still spinning with all the myriad tasks to be accomplished in a mere 15 minutes to allow me to miraculously disappear to my home on time, my patient's iv started to act up. It was my own fault really since i had hung his medication and it came out of the fridge and was therefore condensating and kinda bubbly... causing the pump to constantly blare out it's warning of "air in line" to the horror and dismay of my poor ears. Anyways, i decided that my patient was mature enough to try and fix his own pump (i've had a fellow who used to change the rate on the pump and i'd walk back in the room and his pump was supposed to be running at 150 ml/hour and he would slow it to 75 ml/hour, claiming his vein hurt - stinker!!). So it was "fred, you know what?".. And so, Fred turned to me and said "nope, but i heard he's a nice guy!". I will readily admit it took a few minutes to add it all up and come up with a good reply, i was sniggering so much. I know it all sounds very silly and small, but it sure made me laugh at the end of a long crazy day! Thanks a lot "fred" for cheering one sad little nursie up!
