Cold

You know it's cold when your boogers freeze - that's a line from Calvin and Hobbes - one of my all-time favorite cartoon characters. And yes, that certainly was the case this morning. A co-worker warned me as i bundled up like the michelin man that the windchill was -27! So i'm sure, if you passed me tromping down Concession Street this morning, you would not have recognized me in all my winter finery! But the world was beautiful, i love walking home on Sunday mornings, especially after it has snowed. There is something so still, special and magical about being the first one to make footprints on a sidewalk, to slide on the neighbourhood ice rink for a few minutes by myself, to watch the sun peak through the gray clouds and cause sparkles on the snow. Most people are still tucked into their beds and sleeping and here's little old me, putting foot in front of tired foot, slowly progressing towards warmth, pajamas and my waiting bed! Yes, you all have to get up and greet the day, but i've greeted it and said "I'll see you later!"
And so, I bid you all adieu, you diurnal denizens, from the nocturnal nurse!

I love your past 2 "morning" posts Danielle :) I'm almost inclined to meet you at work and walk home with you - skating on the rink, sparkling snow and the quiet. Ahhhh....it's very refreshing!

Please do..it's quite pretty and relaxing in a way - though i will admit to being 4/5 of the way home this morning, and running out of energy and wondering how long it would be before my butt froze to the ground if i just gave up and sat down there in the snow...or if anyone would take pity on me and drive me the two blocks home that i had to go yet... silly eh? If i had a walking companion, i would be more motivated!

Brrrr, although a "warming trend" is coming!! haha Better than -27 though! I agree, walking through the fresh snow is AMAZING! I'm glad we have 4 seasons, but will be ready when spring arrives for sure!
