Friday night i attended something i've wanted to do for quite a while now...the Friday Night Art Crawl on James Street North in Hamilton. Lots of local artists get together and display art and there is live music and snacks and you wander from studio to studio, from one back room to the next along with throngs of people (i was really surprised to see so many out on a cold cold evening). It was neat to see the many different and diverse styles of art there are...people expressing themselves in such interesting ways - i say "interesting" with a hint of emphasis since some of it was definitely eclectic to the roots! But it's kinda inspirational nonetheless - makes me want to paint or draw something. I commented on my patient's sketchbook the other day and her knitting and realized suddenly that i don't have any artistickness or creativity in me at all - i was saddened by my lack of practical abilities - i couldn't even sketch my house if i wanted to - my drawing in school always seemed so forced and unnatural. I can't knit (or at least not yet) - what am i going to do in the nursing home? They probably won't let me have a computer to blog (which is about my most creative thing) and so i guess i'd better start picking up some needles and thread (oops, yarn) and learn to purl...
