Going downhill

Yesterday was a treat of a day weather-wise.  Which made our outing yesterday oh ever so much more enjoyable.  My friend Melissa and her children invited me along to go skiing with their extended family at Snow Valley in Barrie.  It was an abso-perfect day, not too cold so you didn't freeze all day long,  not so warm that you were sweating under all the layers and there was a brilliant sun shining all day long.  The snow was powdery and not too slushy or icy and there was a little breeze.  I spent most of the day skiing with Melissa and her little girls - they were a lot of fun, really taking to skiing well and enjoying themselves immensely, giggling together and doing "pizza" all the way down the slopes, with little fear.

So fun to watch.  It's good to just relax and not be so tense, which as adults, we tend to do.  I realize we are quite a bit higher than them and a fall offers a greater possibility for injury but thankfully i only had one "fall".  I'm not even sure you can term it that since it happened when we were almost standing still on a flat piece of the hill - kinda embarrassing especially when you're trying to get up without looking like a fish flopping around in the bottom of a rowboat.  On a scale of one to ten, my efforts to stand up were probably bout a 2 in the graciousness scale!  Heehee.  And as i type this, every once in a while, i move a bit and i am reminded that yes, i did do something yesterday that my poor body hasn't done for a while - various muscle groups crying out a bit when i reposition in my chair or straighten out my legs... but it's all worth it.  I was very glad to get the opportunity to go and to be blessed with a great day of fun and fellowship!

It's kinda hard taking pictures while you're skiing - you're holding poles, mitts, camera and trying not to fall or run into someone... hmmm... no wonder i look kinda funny!

Looking down from the lift isn't my favorite thing to do... but you need the lifts in order to get anywhere!
